Hi guys
I have a ford fusion in today with no speedo working it has a speedo sensor on the gear box that has already been replaced with new (no abs) , scoping the signal wire at ecu shows a 12v switched signal and frequency changing with vehicle speed i also have a supply and ground at the sensor but in engine ecu live data vss signal is missing Has anyone had problems with the ecu seeing this signal , there is no codes in engine ecu probably because someone has deleted them before i got it , but codes in instrument cluster u2200 and u2197 both relating to vehicle speed missing data. From what i gather the ecu is not seeing the signal and therefore can not send it to the cluster am i thinking on the right lines my next step is to send the ecu for testing am i overlooking anything here your thoughts would be appriecated thanks lee

Your thinking is definitely on the right lines but I have seen a few weird instrument/pod faults on these caused by a defective battery. Not faulty enough to cause starting issues, but some conductive issue within the battery to corrupt the signal on cranking..Just a thought.
