Hi
This car has an intermittent fault During driving the engine check light will come on, the car will judder slightly and go into limp. If you switch off the ign and try again, the car will drive OK but the EML will be on.
Stored diagnostic trouble codes:- Engine U0101 lost communication with TCM ABS No trouble codes SRS No trouble codes Cluster U2064 warning indicator requested by another module U0101 lost communication with TCM Generic module No trouble codes EPS No trouble codes
This car had been at the dealers for about 3 weeks and they diagnosed the engine ECU. However, by this point the customer had lost faith and pulled the car out.
I checked out the CAN circuit on my Pico while wiggling the wiring and could not fault it. The customer decided to go for another PCM and I coded it in. Within 24 hours the same fault occurred.
Apart from pulling the dash apart again and using the Pico on the CAN circuit again I am not sure where to go from here. The engine and auto gearbox ecu are one unit. The codes indicate they are loosing comms with each other.
Has anyone else seen this.

Just a thought, and I could be way off, but could there be another pair of can wires from the pcm for the tcm part, that are spliced in further down the loom? Might be worth unplugging the connectors and checking the can lines with a multimeter and see if any other pins are connected, if you get me.

Just had another thought, just remembered something I read a while ago and the TCM is a seperate part but is controlled through the engine ecu.

Well, I was looking at this car as if it had a 4 speed auto where it actually has a 5 speed. The trans ECU is separate from the engine ECU.
The trans ECU has a dry joint on it, if you wiggle the connector you can hear the trans clicking in and out. Have checked all lives and grounds and checked the pins.
The problem I have now is when I try to program the original engine ECU back in I get error code P0602 PCM programing error.
I think I might need the 'as built code'. Can anyone tell me how to obtain these?

Been a while since I last fit a new module but if I remember right I just selected as built from menu and no codes needed

On of my dealer customers supplied me with the vehicle 'as build' code.
On IDS you have to option to write in the coding manually.
Once done all was well with the world again. Birds are singing and the sun is out!
