Ford Ka 1.3 Duratec 2006 - Throttle position sensor fault, code P0121 #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 1300 (duratec)
( Optional ) Scanner Used: DEC Superscan
( Optional) Fault Codes: P0121 TPS Range / Performance

Having some grief with the above, TPS sensor seems fine, even tried another one thinking it might have a fault with lower readings but as soon as ignition is switched on it logs fault p0121 ans won't clear unless throttle is off idle.

Good supply to sensor and signal out consistent with live data, position on scan tool is showing idle as closed throttle and anything above as part throttle.

There does not seem a function to reset KAM to relearn idle position like on the earlier ones thinking it may be a software issue ?

Known lower stop is 0.68v and at idle we are close to that every time.

Searched archives and can't see anything similar , anyone had anything similar, I'm thinking maybe software issues ??

Evening John,

Are there any driveability problems with this vehicle, ie Idle flare? The earlier models had problems with the TPS connector which were later modified. Can the throttle stop/cable be adjusted to bring the voltage down to exactly where it needs to be? Can the signal be scoped?

No driving issues that i'm aware of just the MIL light on, cant road test at moment as ABS control unit away for repair. Yes i can scope the signal and supplies which i will do next week when back, dont seem to be adjustment on cable and maybe a stop on throttle but not sure if wise to adjust as guessing it was ok once and nothing has changed (not touched by anyone else )

Don't waste anymore time on this. Wait until the ABS module is returned and installed.

You are chasing a fault that is not there.

Assuming who ever is repairing the ABS module does it correct.

That all sounds simple ? What has the abs control unti to do with the TPS ?

*What has the abs control unit to do with the TPS ?* Good question. If there isn't a connection between the two, then although the EML illuminated does not constitute an MOT failure at the moment, it may do in the future.

Any update on this one. ?? I am just interested in the outcome of what happened when the ABS was refitted to see if it cured the throttle problem.
