Mazda 6 1.8 2005 - Light throttle kangarooing #

Year of Manufacture *: 2005
Engine Size and Code *: 1.8
( Optional ) Scanner Used: IDS,, Carman Modis
( Optional) Fault Codes: None

Car runs fine unless accelerating on light throttle from 2500rpm then it kangaroo's untill 4000rpm then its fine. No codes ever seen with any scanner, software checked at dealer, who also has driven it and has no idea what is causing the fault.
Car is fine if driven a little harder, and has so far had fuel regulator & throttle body swapped from a 2nd car with no change.
Front O2 is a wide band sensor so cant see whats going on when fault happens re mixture.
Any ideas please?

Hi Andy

Can you not check, fuel trims, oxygen sensor (o2) on live data?

If you have a scope it would be ideal. Knowing what is happening regarding fueling at the time of the of the fault is going to help point you in the right direction.

Start from there and come back with your results

I'd suggest having the injector spray patterns tested and examine for build up of carbon on the backs of the inlet valves.

not sure if it will help but had a 2litre mazda similar fault check on fuel pump ours turned out to be fuel pump.

hi andy.
had one of these a few months ago, no fault codes but doing the same under light throttle,i spent quite a long time on this,checking values but not coming up with anything conclusive. so i disconnected the front sensor and road tested, the fault went, took the plunge and fitted new sensor.
tested okay. been okay since.
