Nissan Almera 1.5 QG15DE 2006 - MAF sensor, analogue to digital replacement - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 1500 - QG15DE

Hi, I scoped the analogue MAF sensor on this car and got a maximum output of 3.5v.
Bought a new Blue Print MAF sensor which looked identical to the original one fitted even down to the part numbers type face, when I scoped it before roadtest it had a digital output?
Has anyone come across this before, they can't be inter-changeable.........can they ?

Hi Martin,
I wouldn't have thought so. You haven't said whether it ran ok or not?
I think your going to get the usual replies about fitting genuine etc and I personally wouldn't fit a Blue Print MAF sensor.

Hi, Bryan, I understand what you're saying about non genuine parts and I normally only fit genuine or Bosch etc. but I was not 100% certain that this would be the fix but in this case I was able to return the part if not required.
It drove exactly the same and I refitted the original MAF.( The part was absolutely identical in all physical ways though as explained above.)

The fault was general lack of performance up hills and overtaking.

Yesterday I found similar previous post on here, the FIX was 2 new brake light bulbs....?
I rang my customer to get them to check the brake lights - both blown but high level one ok.
Replaced blown bulbs and the cars performance was restored!!!
Apparently this is known by Nissan but they don't seem to know why.

Well I've learnt something there as well then, not that I work on many Almeras. If you've sent the MAF back you may not easily get to the bottom of it unless someone on here has some idea. It may be that the vehicle will run ok without a MAF (as some will) and just substituted the signal for a calculated value? I'm not an electrician but that would be my guess.
