Peugeot 206 1.4 KFC 2003 - Non start, code P1612 imobiliser signal - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2003
Engine Size and Code *: 1.4 KFC SAGEM 2000
( Optional ) ECU Type: SAGEM 2000
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Dec ss2
( Optional) Fault Codes: P1612

Hi,
I have this Peugeot with an intermittent non start and the fault code is p1612 immoblizer signal. No live data for immoblizer in ecu. In bsi unit I can see transponder signal is ok, but I,m getting no communication with engine ecu fault code in bsi and abs. when engine does start fault codes clear.
Also engine will run then just cut out after about a minute, then leave for 5 min and it may start again!
Also when fault present the eml won't light up on dash.
I,m thinking it must be ecu faulty as it's not comms with other modules?
Any ideas?

Hi
Remove air filter box and check wiring in conduit under there.
Its either a red wire or a white wire with a red trace.
Give it a tug and pretty sure it will break off

Hi Mark,
Wires seem to be ok. I have tried bypassing them also.

Shane, I would be testing supplies and earths to ecu and making sure it has what it needs to power up first.
Have you done this?

Yes Chris,
I have a powerprobe the hook so I have hotshotted all lives and earths so resistance under load are good.
Think next step is ECU tested.

Mark,
Why would the eml go off and abs and bsi say no comms?
I can still communicate with ecu when it won't start, I just get the immoblizer non start code.
Still waiting to hear from actronics.

This should be a multiplexed system, Have you scoped all the comm lines?

Ac tronics found fault in ECU and repaired, all good now.
Took so long because when I rang them a week later they told me I needed to send BSI unit as well( week wasted) .
Thank for advice just glad it was ECU!

Hi,
This one came back in last night with same issue!
I have checked volts on both can high and low and I have 1.9 to 2 volts, is this correct?
I will scope can and post later on!
What is the Can gateway on theses?

Scope pattern from plug at ecu.
I can comm with BSI, ABS and Airbag. Modules show fault codes for no comm with ECU. I have checked all poers and grounds.
going to give AC TRONICS a call think they might heve messed up!
Any advice please?

Hi I thought I posted this the other day but its not appearing.We had a 2004 206 with the same fault you describe no comms to ecu.What we found was a broken wire fro the bsi unit in the engine bay.From memory there are 2 looms nearest to the headlight the left hand one goes down through the inner wing.We disconnected it and pulled it down for better access and when we pulled on the individual wires one came apart.New piece of wire amd hey presto comms restored and engine started.

You need to/ should have scoped both can lines and compared the start and non start traces.
The reason you can't communicate when it won't start is the immo signal is on the CAN circuit fron the bis, not on pin 7 k line.

I did look when I had it but couldn't find the wires?

Hi all,
Auto elec said its a faulty BSI unit!
but if I can communicate with BSI and ABS then surly they must be ok?
Anyway I'm getting it back today or tomorrow and will test can from BSI, anyone got a good can wiring diagram?
Any one no what plug on BSI ?
Looking at wiring diagram it's doesn't communicate through DTC With can to ECU with diagnostic scanner, so if no comms it must be live, earth or dead ECU!
looks like I might have to send back to AC TRONICS for a retest!

Slow down and look at what the topology is on the network.

Then look at each concerned ECU and see the "received" Info, cross check this with your scope and you should be able to work out which ECU as your problem.
