Mercedes Benz 1.8 211 Kompressor - High emissions, needs two O2 sensors #

Year of Manufacture *: 2006
Engine Size and Code *: 1.8 Kompressor

Hi all I have a bit of a dilemma. I have the above Vehicle with high emissions in and it needs 2 02 Sensors.I have been told that aftermarket sensors wont work in Mercedes and only original ones will do. Has anyone tried aftermarket ones with any success as the genuine ones are around €650 for the 2.

I would have thought the originals would be Bosch.So can you not cross reference the originals to a bosch part number?.Also check the sensor plugs for oil contamination.

Hi Andy,Thanks for the reply, A mechanic near by me whom i know quiet well had the same problem and tried bosch sensors and the emissions were still the same.He then got genuine ones and it fixed the problem.It seems crazy to me I'd imagine they're the same sensor but I heard horror stories about this model of Merc regarding emissions,when you put the sensors in you have to drive the car for 200 miles and then reset the adaptations before the emissions come right. I was just wondering had anyone else come across this scenario.Also I checked for oil contamination at the sensor connectors but all seems ok.

I'm fairly sure they are Bosch original, I haven't had any problems but as the last comment I'd make sure there is no oil contamination in the wiring and ECU connectors, I think it used to get in from the cam sensors from memory? I'd check the timing as well if you've issues the chains have problems as well.

Thanks for the reply John, I've checked for oil contamination and the chain was replaced about a year ago.There,s not much mileage on this car 120,000 km but its been all stop start local runs from new.I just wondered had anyone replaced 02 sensors on this model with non OE ones and how did they get on?. On the other hand if whats going in is the same make and part number as whats coming out I can't see the problem,ie if the mercedes/bosch part number and the Factor/bosch part number are the same then they should be fine.Thanks for your help guys I,ll let you know the result.
