Mazda MPV 2.3 L3 2004 - Slight misfire, no codes - Unresolved #

Year of Manufacture *: 2004
Engine Size and Code *: 2.3 L3
( Optional ) Scanner Used: Carman Scan

Hi,
Got this in with a slight misfire, No fault codes, Compression good, Fitted new spark plugs(wrong type were fitted) replaced oil and filter. Checked Vacuum with mitivac at 30 HGin. Checked Camshaft for were Due to Excessive mileage 200000 miles.Fuel pressure good. Scoped Coils and Injectors. Fuel trims good and emissions good.
Any advice please?

In view of the mileage you may have carboned up valves, particularly if the misfire is more pronounced at idle.You do not give compression readings,but your manifold vacuum figure suggests mechanically sound engine.

reading where 180 psi give or take 5 psi.

Hi,
sorry For late reply,but customer took this away and is still driving it with misfire.

Hi

I have to agree with David

I have seen these engines in the CX-7 L3-T with the same issue.

Have you got a Pico with a WPS500. This will be able to ID the cylinder with the misfire whilst running by checking exhaust pulses.

Or is it a general misfire? Check and post the fuel trims at idle and 2500 so we can see whats happening with fueling.
