Hope someone can help with this Car in for routine cam belt change Used locking kit as per autodata, this has a dephaser pulley for vvt! Reluctant to start initially followed by ECM lamp, low on power, but now starts well Code as above cps circuit short to ground ,however I believe this can be set for many reasons! Yep, rechecked & double checked cam timing ,the dephaser pulley has no key to cam & appears not to have a setting procedure like a micra vvt,so mechanically it is good I think!,also had a plug out to check cam position at tdc, looks good Scoped cam vs crank & yes the cam looks slightly late but zero duty cycle on the cam actuator proves the ECM is not interested in controlling it,I've actuated the unit and watched the duty cycle to about 80% so the control is able to ask the cam to advance Sure enough you can disconnect cam sensor at any point it make no difference, the ECM is not using its data Crank sensor scope pattern good switching from 5v to0 & tested all wires on the circuit for short to ground all good Only other shared device is map which functions good ,this code comes straight back before the engine fires. I guess it seems a lot of work &most may of stuffed a sensor on ,but it's not my style I've self studied a bit & there's lots of stuff about synchronisation using reving technique but I believe that's for earlier models There is prob more that I missed sorry bout the long post ,I would love your thoughts Keith Ps would of posted waveforms but failed badly last time, bit like my diagnostic technique
hi mark yes i have a good cam sensor pattern at the ecm Re-scanned using launch pad & the code changes to 0340 phase sensor, like its giving the impression its not a circuit issue dont know anyone with examiner, unfortunately this code does erase koeo, but returns on cranking my thoughts are although the timing marks are in line is there a mechanical fault in the vvt pulley & on start up its intital expected posistion is not correct? but thanks you are correct, the scope dosnt lie,& the sensor is working! i will have to look at it mechanicly again me thinks
>>> i will have to look at it mechanicly again me thinks <<<
I'm tempted to agree, it sounds like the rest position of the VVT hub is wrong, but just out of interest what is the amplitude of the outputted signal?
cam & crank at idle, your thoughts? we can see the cam is late but as mentioned before there is no vvt control used the dec this morning & code defenition changed Phase sensor algorithm based failure-signal compare failure WTF i thought codes were to be used as guidance!what good are they with so many permutations i think your right VVT pulley is not relaxed in the correct posistion
ECM failure! unexplained, dont think fiats are very well protected from electrical spikes! had to send to dealer for replacement dont have the ability to program new unit thanks for your help mark
