Toyota Rav4 2.0 2009 - Misfire on #2, code P1305 Ignitor circuit - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2009
Engine Size and Code *: 2L
( Optional ) Scanner Used: AUTEL
( Optional) Fault Codes: P1305 IGNITOR CIRCUIT

Hi All
here's one for you, my Rav as described misfire on No2 cyl, would clear if rev high enough definitely coil, so replaced coil ticks over lovely no miss, but will only rev to 3000rpm then go into like a rev limiter mode plugged scan tool, fault code P1305, right try Autodata for wiring diagram, nothing at all ( I do find Autodata as much use as a chocolate fire guard most times, rant over) anyway checked feeds and earths to coils and all the same, Oh! if anyone has wiring diag's for this system or can explain how a coil with 4 terminals works I'd be grateful, so what I've done is put the old coil back no problem rev's well past 3000 still misses but if your thoughts are the same as mine its a faulty new coil, lady's and gents your thoughts please

I've got to ask: Was it a genuine coil?

Have you got a scope? I wonder if the 4th wire is for feedback of some description?

Hi as you are confident the original coil is faulty the sensible thing to do is fit an O.E. part,

What brand of after market coil was it ?

Is it the same fault code with both coils ?

You have nothing to lose (only time) by scoping both coils to see whats happening at 3000 rpm

I had this many years ago and the resolution was a genuine coil. Cant remember the exact details as it was so long ago.

i have been down that road, changed coils for ones out of a running car, no change. 😞

Cheers For all your replies, It was the coil (as suspected ) the motto is stay away from cheep aftermarket parts, the one I used in the end was blue print almost twice the price of cambiare.
Liam Hall did some research, there has been problems with the earth circuits, also the 15amp fuse has had issue's with corrosion, and the worse case the PCM

I hear you Andy Broomhead, There's that link that Jim Power put up, which I thought was very helpful if I needed to go deeper, how far have you gone with your vehicle? apart from the coil change
