VW Golf 1.4 BMY 2008 - Holding back and smoking, code 008213 - Fixed #

Year of Manufacture *: 2008
Engine Size and Code *: 1.4 BMY
( Optional ) Scanner Used: VAG-COM AND SOLUS
( Optional) Fault Codes: 008213

Hi this car has come in from a car sales with engine management light on complaining of holding back and smoking at times,we scanned system and only 1 code stored 008213 intake manifold flap position sensor ( bank 1 ) implausible signal intermittent.have done usual output tests and all seems ok, checked wiring and hoses etc.Have removed plastic part of intake manifold so we could see flaps all seem ok a bit carbooned up?not sure what next step should be any help would be good.Thanks Paul

we have replaced inlet manifold with flaps and sensor.cleared codes and took for test drive.original code gone now but another code has come up.low fuel pressure and it dosent idle nicely.seems like we fixed one job and created another, will do some more testing and report back.

FIXED.

Hi we removed the fuel return valve which is in the manifold and found that the small o ring was not on there could of broken up and got sucked in.We replaced the valve and refitted everything and fuel pressure was good again and car drove perfectly.
