Year of Manufacture *: 2008 Engine Size and Code *: 2.0 AODA
Looking at this for not cranking over properly i think the customer just kept trying it and trying it until the starter and battery where shot and cables started to smoke and melt. Garage have now replaced starter, cables and battery all OE. Now engine cranks over but it still has the same problem, it will almost lock up at a certain point and thats how it carries on trying to turn over, if you disconnect the pencil coils it will spin over as normal, i suggested that the timing had moved causing the problem and for them to check it, they phoned back saying that the timing is ok and that the cam locks line up and so does the crank block pin, just wondering now if they've also checked the bottom crank pulley alignment pin that has the timing ring on it could it have moved some how? Any Help Appreciated.
Yes Kevin, they phoned me saying this is what the engine does when trying to start and i suggested disconnecting the coils first and try again which they did and it spun over as normal without any locking suggesting the ignition timing was advanced so i advised them to check the timing first which they did and said all ok, so they've asked me to go over and take a look at it today, thought i'd just ask you guys first if you've had any problems with ignition timing.

Bottom pulley on this hadn't been aligned properly and the ignition timing was way off, all now cranking and running ok.
