Vauxhall Zafira 2.2 2005 - Noise after bypassing leaking fuel pipe - Fixed #

Engine Size and Code: 2.2

Hi. 2.2 zafira has a round disc as part of the fuel line at top of engine at offside. Does anyone know what it does. I had one that was leaking. I cut this disc out and bypassed it. All was well but on road test noticed a low tone thumping noise which increased with revs. Sounding serious. New pipe from Vauxhall’s £76 so not too bad but would like to know if this disc is related to the noise. Opened it up and there is nothing inside. Any ideas.

Thanks for your reply. Thinking the same. Cut the disc open and there is nothing in it. Can’t find any info on this. Even Vauxhall’s parts don’t know what’s it used for. Part description just comes up as a fuel pipe. Seen them many times on Vauxhall’s but never thought much about it

Replaced pipe. It was part of the low pressure pipe from tank to high pressure pump. £89. Noise gone. Then just the other day working on a petrol mokka on the fuel line was just what I needed just the round disc. Don’t know cost but surely cheaper and certainly easier to fit. That’s where an experienced parts guy would be on the ball and advise. Anyway, job done.

As for experienced parts people, unfortunately round our way they are retiring at an alarming rate

Hi. Now in limp mode with p1191 fuel pressure malfunction. VERY intermittent. He drove for 200 miles mostly at motorway speed but when following slow traffic went into limp mode. A good post by Dave Hill helps but every time I test this it is running fine. I have had plenty experience of the system and when playing up it is quite easy to trace the fault. I wonder if when playing up the fuel pressure regulator is making pressure too high and this may have led to the round disc leaking. I am leaning towards the regulator but an expensive guess. Although an old car it is well looked after and in great condition. And with a large family the seven seats suit them. Also it could be heat related as only happens after a long run and then when going slower. There was no freeze frame data available. Any thoughts would be appreciated
