Toyota Auris 1.3 2010 - Electric power steering problem #
Posted by Dominic Casey on May 26, 2020, 6:23 pm Hi All,Are there any Toyota techs here that might be able to help me with a problem. The above car came in on the back of a tow truck,a non starter.Battery was completely flat so charged it up. The reason for non start was the plugs where shot.Replaced the plugs and it kicked into life. Job done ???eh no. The power steering wasn't working( P/S light on dash staying on).I also noticed leaving the car overnight the battery was completely flat again the next morning.Charged it up again and noticed that the lights on the heater control panel (centre console) were staying on even with key out and doors locked.Hence the reason for the battery going flat. The only codes are U0100 Lost communication with ECM/PCM "A".And U1103 Lost communication with stop/start control module. If I disconnect and reconnect the battery everything is normal until I switch of the engine and start it up again then the problem returns. The stop/start system was very intermittent at the best of times,so I replaced the Stop/start ecm after some testing and also being told they are very problematic due to moisture ingress. It didnt sort the problem. However when I disconnect the stop/start module everything works fine and all codes disappear but I have no ign. lights.Connect back up the module and all the problems return. Can anyone throw some light on this for me or maybe have a wiring diagram,so I can see if theres anything else running of the stop/start module that might be causing the problem.
