Year of Manufacture: 2010 Engine Size and Code: 1.6 ep6c (5fs) ( Optional ) Scanner Used: solus ( Optional) Fault Codes: P0343 P0367
Hi car came in as a non runner, battery no good so replaced it car tried to start. scanned system and 2 codes keep coming up and will not clear P0343 and P0367 Inlet and exhaust cams coherence, removed plug and tested for spark and it seems to spark twice then no spark. have had engine running twice now and it seems to run fine, no noisy timing chain but then switch off and will not start again, it seems to fire then nothing. scanner says system is reading key, replaced crank sensor still no good, tested coils and plugs were sparking using scanner, smells of fuel when cranking. The 2 codes will not clear but is that because engine is not running to allow cam sensors to send signal to ecu, was tempted to send ecu off for testing but have had bad experiences with those companies, any advice would be grateful. Thank you Paul

Does ""coherence" not usually indicate a cam/crank timing issue?

Hi thanks for reply but if timing was out i would of thought that we would still get constant spark at plugs? we have had it running twice now and it ran vey well. we are not familiar with the timing set up on this make but perhaps we should check it out. Paul

Hi I would think it needs Cam / crank sync to know which coil to fire, TDC can be 1 or 4,(unless it a wasted spark system of course) Aidan

Have you tested cam sensors for a signal output ?
You can trim a sheeps wool many times, but you can only fleece it once !

"P0343 and P0367 Inlet and exhaust cams coherence,"
I can't say I have experience with this engine but to me the codes point to a possible timing issue between camshafts or cams to crank. Variable valve timing issue or timing chain, etc. Scope might tell something.jim power
