ON THIS MEMORIAL DAY
by Gene Minix
As I stand and look at the crosses
That mark the many graves,
I am reminded of those who died
And for all that they gave.
Down through the years
Brave men and women willing to die
That our children might always know freedom,
That our flag might always fly high.
Sons and daughters.
Husbands and wives.
They all marched off to war
And many gave their lives.
Some on home soil.
Some across the sea.
May we all on this Memorial Day
Be reminded that freedom is never free.
