GOOD OLD DAYS
by Gene Minix
I call them the Good Old Days.
They sure were good to me.
And I guess the Good Old Days
We'll never more see.
But, the thoughts are there
And the memories so real.
Working and playing on the farm.
Bare footed days I remember still.
Cutting wood for the winter
We didn't seem to mind at all.
We knew the snow would soon come
And we'd have ourselves a ball.
Riding horses until it was dark.
Then hide-n-seek with the neighbor's kids.
Who could ever forget having
The great fun that we did.
Swimming in the creek
Just me and Cindy Lou.
I remember the fun we two had
I surely, surely do.
The family going to church on Sunday.
And homemade ice cream later that day.
With all the grownups talking
And the kids hard at play.
We didn't have a lot of money for sure,
But we just didn't seem to mind.
We were so rich in many ways
Back in that day and time.
