To flesh it out (as if anyone wants to hear): of course i have no illusions about the 'evilness' of the democrats, but the small effort of doing a vote in places it could have an effect might just make the acceleration of the oncoming climate disater slightly less brutal - this chance has got to be worth it - it's not like not voting and trump winning is going to do anything about it. Even with all the caveats about the 'green energy' favoured (at best) by the other lot (as in planet of the humans), we know trump's lot would still be pushing worse (because he tells us).
Not to mention the pretty overt signalling of fascist ideas coming from trump, his billionaire backers and their international compadres like johnson. To whatever extent i agree that liberalism is 'fascism in cardigans', right now i'd still choose them over fascists who seem to want to take the cardigans off - you don't have to deny the 'evil' of the former to act to avert the extra 'evil' of the latter in the here and now if it's in your power (and we can sort out the other pricks later: maybe this is a weak future-based theoretical position, but surely no more than thinking/hoping the abstention will somehow lead to a better outcome).
I respect the alternative opinion (it's also been mine on and off for many years in the past).
