Thus you have slick 'progressive' sites that have bobbed up (Byline Times, Double Down News, Novara, etcetera). They've gone from well-funded strength to strength - with cool hipster festivals (eg Byline) and bespoke televised options.
These sites cover some progressive issues and look good, on the face of it. But keep a sharp eye out for what they *don't* cover: who they punt (eg Monbiot, Cadwalladr); and what sorts of information they choose to double down on.
These sites are accompanied by fellow-travelling 'fact checkers' (professional sheen, 'impartial' vibe), which host blinkered 'propaganda specialist' behavioural psychologists and other 'exerts' on Zoom webinars ... and selectively fact-check only certain topics.
Think BBC Fact Checkers, First Draft News, Open Soc, Bellingcat, Africa Check, Reuters Foundation Oxford, etcetera
