Perhaps it shows the difference between what left and right means as opposed to conservative/radical or libertarian Vs authoritarian.
Personally I think most are authoritarian at heart so long as they agree with the authority, and mistake their occasional disagreement with authority as a principle rather than a difference of opinion.
Such could describe some central tenets of anarchism too, but I don't think we'll get food results by applying anarchist authority to capitalist state, and like the ramping up of police power of late, it'll be too late when it happens.
All you can do at that point is make sure you have nothing to hide, like perhaps 1930s Germans!
Most disturbing for me lately is the abject lack of compassion for anyone who doesn't think exactly like me. I feel we've created a monster in our complacency.
