I thought the author was quite clear that the reason for China acting as it did is due to Chinese civilizational characteristic, as well as the socialist-type organisation (CCP), which differs from the West. Plus perhaps their experience with covid epidemics in the previous decade etc. If anything, he amplified the harmonious and compassionate outcomes.
Not sure about the ‘enjoyed’ part. As far as I can see it West made a bodge-job when they tried to copy some of the methods of eradication of virus, half-heartedly, stupidly and with less compassion in most cases. Is it not clear that we in the west have suffered more hardships?
Maybe Western governments also look longingly at the disciplined, responsible, non-dissenting Chinese citizens and wish that western populations were that easy to marshal and control? Less of the western Julian Assange-type disruptive characters and more of the servile Mr and Mrs Chinese Citizen?
Maybe they do. We try and get into our politician’s heads all the time to try to work out why we have certain outcomes. I suggest that our ‘democratic’ neoliberal system is short-termist and they don’t give a flying f* for the population.
As for Julian Assange, he definitely isn’t a type. He is the medicine-man for our system. Chinese are not waging wars, we are, and we people need the truth to liberate us here, not in China. Like I said, Mr and Mrs Chinese Citizen come from a different civilizational and political space.
It's a long article and the author delved into historical data regarding the international help China provided to the rest of the world and specifically to the US. The US has been smearing China and being derogatory throughout the pandemic. China has noted this and one comment is indicative what Chinese think of the US ... they had enough:
“After this, I wouldn’t cross the road to piss on the US if it were on fire.”
Chinese Communist Party petitioned the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) on Tuesday 8 March to let China build and run a global database for “vaccine passports”.
Well, WHO is not recommending this – see my earlier post:
Which also applies to the Unlimited Hangout piece ...
