Well, I'd be interested to see scientific evidence for long term negative effects. I trained as a singer in my youf and it was clear from that that most people only use a small percentage of their total lung capacity in normal breathing, which to me suggests that working a bit harder at it would get sufficient oxygen in. Exhaled air also contains a fair amount of unused oxygen if I remember my GCSE biology rightly... But yeah, quite possible that there will be unanticipated long term effects. Personally I try to avoid using the things as much as possible - one of the benefits of working out in the fresh air!
Mask puritans and authorities abusing the mask exempt is sh1tty IMO. I've seen those tags they get given to wear in public, but can't imagine anyone would want to wear it all the time. There was a whole social insanity around cleanliness and hygiene ('kills 99.9% of bacteria. dead') before the pandemic which hasn't helped matters either...
