Re: Real geopolitical motives for the occupation of Afghanistan?
Thanks guys, some interesting reading in there. For some reason I hadn't considered the opium/heroin angle of using it to destabilise the surrounding countries which just so happen to be America's biggest rivals. It also hadn't clicked that Xianjing has a border with Afghanistan, with the spillover of terrorism and fake concern about a Uighur 'genocide' likely no accident. Opium wars eh? Plus ca change... Interesting that they haven't hurried to mine the rare earth metals. Maybe they're sitting on them until the expansion in renewables [sic] hikes the price up? I wonder if all this was understood by the Bush admin, which apparently planned the invasion before 9/11, or if it just proved to be a happy accident after they grasped their opportunity.
Anybody believe Biden will withdraw US troops & contractors come September?
