Re: Does feeding garden birds do more harm than good?
My cat's as much of a family member as the rest of them (though I'd bury the humans in the garden too if it was up to me (not in a brookside way)). She (the cat) doesn't really go for birds (too much work and stringy to eat I think), more for the rodents - we had a rat problem on the estate a couple of years back (you'd see rats climbing up the bird feeder poles) so that's useful (mostly too lazy for that too).
As for birds loads of sparrows and tits, the odd goldfinch. We still have the odd buzzard, but we see the kites much more now (quite a rural council estate).
