Sorry Jim what are you on about? the range of people you consider "affluent-to-rich" is meaningless. You cant decide whether its 30% or 60%? Besides what's your definition of affluent or rich? The median household income in the UK was £29,900 which makes all over that "affluent-to-rich" going by the upper range of your figures. I don't know anyone who thinks that.
Mostly "Getting by" or "Solvent" maybe, but depends on outgoings: transport, homes, kids, etc.
The tiny elite rule because they have exponentially more wealth. the six richest people in the UK for example have as much wealth as poorest 13 MILLION, which allows them to do such things as contribute millions to the Tories and buy a news channel like UK News for example, whilst that "wealth" of the 13 million simply goes out the door as soon as it came in on food rent and heating.
