Pff. Nothing about that banner is racist.
It's amazing how everyone clutches their pearls when the Saudi PIF "buys" a football club and all the great and good are making speeches about morals and fit and proper owners but nobody in the media draws attention to the fact that "we" have been arming and training that regime for decades and have been facilitating the genocide in Yemen.
That's without mentioning the fact that the UAE already have Man Citeh and Emirates logos all over the place and while they may not be quite as disgusting as the Saudis they are still a human rights nightmare. Just one of those strange cases of the media not being able to connect two dots that are sitting one inch apart from each other. I wonder what it could be?
As far as this latest short-term pearl clutching, it's almost as if "they" think that maybe this stink will wash off on the working class who follow the game, perhaps not realising that a lot of them have been priced out of football over the last few decades. Still, the football fans are plebby enough to be far away from the likes of the arms dealers and politicians so they'll do.
I'd be happy to see everyone get their teeth into this protest but happier to see it widen it's scope to the really important stuff. If and when that happens you can be sure it will be snuffed out.
