With reference to your current post, I read it when it was posted by Andrei a few hours earlier. It sounds more plausible than a theory that it all happened by chance : ). Much more.
As it happens, I worked in Kaz for 8 odd years and have some notion of the forces behind the current events.
Concentrating on the Almaty Oblast (the notional capital (ex) now transferred to Astana (or I should say Nur-Sultan) ... head shake, where most of the violence occurred. It's a mountainous area and this was where the reactionary head-chopping crew were waiting for a signal i.e. legit protestors. This is sort of local info I could glean. Absolutely not the last word ... we wait
