World War Z

I happened to see 10 or 15 minutes of this 2013 film starring Brad Pitt late last night when I was on my second glass of Jamesons ("I don't mind if I do, sir!"). I really couldn't believe my eyes. I thought I must be hallucinating. Brad flies into the airport at Jerusalem and is taken on a tour of the city by an Israeli secret service (?) operative -- a caption "Jerusalem, Israel" is shown in case we're in any doubt. The operative explains that they've had to build a wall to keep the hordes of flesh-eating zombies at bay, and he takes Brad to a high vantage point where we can see hundreds of zombies crawling over each other to reach the top of the wall. The situation gets desperate and Israeli soldiers spray the teeming human zombies with machine-gun fire. Eventually the zombies breech the wall through sheer weight of numbers and Brad has to be whisked away to safety while crazed zombies leap down from the rooftops into the narrow alleyways.
I sat watching all this with my jaw hanging open. A wall in Israel built to keep out the flesh-eating zombie hordes ...... what could this possibly mean? A subtle reference or ambiguous allusion to some real-life situation? A surreal comic-book attempt at black humour? You tell me.
