Vladimir Putin is threatening Ukraine and the prospect of war is very real. Boris Johnson says he will stand up to Russian interference in Ukraine – but his government has shown it does not take Russian meddling seriously even in this country.

Reports published in 2018 and 2020 by the House of Commons’ foreign affairs and the intelligence committees warned of Russian interference in the UK. But nothing has been done about the ‘Russia report’.

And, as openDemocracy has shown, the Conservative Party gets a lot of money from Russian donors. Just one such donor, the wife of a former Russian deputy finance minister, has given more than £1.7m to the party since 2012.
