In a L'Boat thread in March re Russia Ukraine and DU initiated by Gerard noone actually mentions that the US fired 10,000 DU rounds at civilian areas in 2003.
That thread also dismissed or seriously downplayed the long-term health effects of DU - quoting US military sources(!).
So why not reactivate your possibly depleted knowledge with these articles:
1) "US Fired Depleted Uranium at Civilian Areas in 2003 Iraq War, report finds":
https://amp.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/19/us-depleted-uranium-weapons-civilian-areas-iraq :
"Coordinates revealing where US jets and tanks fired nearly 10,000 depleted uranium(DU) rounds in Iraq during the war in 2003 have been obtained by the Dutch peace group Pax".
2) Today, 29 April("Interesting Engineering"):
"How Drones Usettle the Domination of tanks on the Battlefield"
Will Drones End the Age of Tanks? :
https://interestingengineering.com/tanks-drones-battlefield :
"In Ukraine, drones like the Turkish Baykar Bayraktar TB-2 are getting a lot of headlines, and for a good reason.
Small, relatively cheap (when compared to a tank), and easy to use, these drones are effective against Russian armor throughout the besieged country.
According to a candid interview, Ukrainian drone operators equip a variety of drones with weapons like anti-tank grenades (like the Soviet-era RKG-3) and Molotov cocktails, strike at night, and drop the ordinance on top of the tanks under cover of darkness, before anyone sees them coming. As we've seen from media footage of the armed conflict, this appears to be very effective. "

"Iraq: War’s Legacy of Cancer":
"Two US-led wars in Iraq have left behind hundreds of tonnes of depleted uranium munitions and other toxic wastes."
4) Wikipedia(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depleted_uranium):
"Several studies using cultured cells and laboratory rodents suggest the possibility of leukemogenic, genetic, reproductive, and neurological effects from chronic exposure. According to an article in Al Jazeera, DU from American artillery is suspected to be one of the major causes of an increase in the general mortality rate in Iraq since 1991. A 2005 epidemiology review concluded: "In aggregate the human epidemiological evidence is consistent with increased risk of birth defects in offspring of persons exposed to DU....Fallujah has been described as having "the highest rate of genetic damage in any population ever studied".
5) Iraqi Scientist: depleted uranium - the Lingering Effects
https://www.al-fanarmedia.org/2019/07/an-iraqi-scientist-speaks-out-on-the-lingering-effects-of-radioactive-weapons/:
"Depleted uranium a waste product of nuclear power generation - is effective in anti-tank projectiles. The radioactive metal reaches high temperatures on impact with tank armor: hot enough to melt the armor into minute particles that are carried on the wind".
“It’s not a subject that people are talking about much any more. I don’t know why,” said Renad Mansour, a research fellow in the Middle East and North Africa program at Chatham House(!!) who specializes in the reconstruction of post-war Iraq."
(My "!!" after Chatham)
