You appear to be in a state of denial: late night TV talk-shows and Youtube'd clips still have a massive (global) audience and impact. I suspect most Americans primarily get their news and views from Late Night talk shows because they need the comedy sugar-coating, the show-bizzy buzz and hilarity to persuade them to pay any attention at all to otherwise dry, boring, un-entertaining news and current affairs.
And Pentagon Propagandists have known this and fully exploited it for 50-60 years.
