The actual Twain quote is apparently:
"How easy it is to make people believe a lie, and how hard it is to undo that work again!"

Actually analysing evidence is uncommon and doesn't come into it for most people I reckon. People are born into a "tribe" or indeed they chose one. They then then assume the views of the tribe as a wholesale package. Often they do retain an odd or peculiar belief or two which gives them claim to be an "Individual" and otherwise gives them something to argue or pass the time with their fellow tribe members.
The rare focus; however imperfect, on actual analysis is what makes this site valuable.
