That is surely inspired by the Karl Malden shot in the hold of the ship in that film.
Interesting that there are tons of pictures and not much text until you get near the bottom when this appears:

Other members of the same unit, who held on inside the Azovstal steel plant along with members of the Azov brigade and more than 1,000 civilians, were clear they could not hold out much longer, outnumbered 10 to one and with no hope of relief.
So Marines, "brits" and oh yeh, members of the Azov brigade, like it's some after thought and a LOAD of civilians. Pay no attention to the nazi bit in the middle or the "brits" for that matter.
Every time you think they can't sink lower, there they go.
