RSF chief Christophe Deloire reports from Davos today, mentioning going into a "media" session to discuss the JTI with media types like Kenneth Roth (Human Rights Watch) and TIME magazine (now owned by World Economic Forum exec Mark Benioff).
WEF reckons the new "Observatory" will be "to the field of information what the IPCC is to climate change".
The JTI "will create a certification process for trustworthy information sources to be rewarded for abiding by rigorous journalistic standards with facilitated access to corporations' advertising funding, public and philanthropic funding and search engine amplification."
Who gets to decide which lucky "information sources" are "trustworthy" enough - and sticking properly to "rigorous standards" (Guardian and BBC gold standards?) - to be showered with extra advertising revenue, as well as funds from random philanthropic oligarchs and Google?
