Your charge that he deserves nuanced argument implies that he applies such a standard to himself. That is of course untrue. He casually and brutally slandered Noam Chomsky in the course of one of his rambling and disconnected public appearances.
Žižek will always be tolerated, even encouraged, by the United States political establishment because (1) he appears avuncular and buffoonish; (2) he never says anything really challenging, leave alone comprehensible; and (3) he is prepared to tell the most outrageous lies in the service of the state.
