I assumed this was funded by NED, not so, instead it was MacArthur Foundation. Never heard of it, but assume it has quasi-similar origins as NED. The Saker published the list of NGOs:

Trenin has obviously come to the same conclusion as RF government, despite spending decades in the Carnegie. Good.
The main reason that prompted me to post is that I am reading 'The Mongols and Russia' by George Vernadsky (Vol 3). The parallel struck me immediately between that historical account and the current events. The Golden Horde dominated Russia for centuries until eventually they got rid of them and finally used them as shock troops against their enemies, either internally or against Lithuanian/Polish Empire - the remnants of Mongols now live in Tartar Republic. The main point being that Russia is very, very resilient and ultimately cohesive. Fwiw
