Michaux, while providing an important reality check, is still 'solving for the wrong variable' as the BGL authors describe it, ie: trying to figure out how to sustain industrial civilisation vs: trying to sustain a living biosphere and a human population living dignified, meaningful lives as part of that.
Imo Ian, it's a standard technique. At the end of the day, we are dealing with 8 billion people. We are here, as in totally lost, and somehow you may suggest that there is this dignified, meaningful life. Any numbers? But seriously, before starting to make any conclusions as to how we are to lead these lives, can we have a reality check .. please. In other words .. we are all different (can't find the Monthy Python vid ). Obviously an unsustainable argument ..
