Sinister -- your stance is very close to not doing ANYTHING because it might fail
None of us has a clue whether an alternative strategy would have been more successful and yes, the establishment would have "upped their game" quite definitely -- but this implies it's not worth trying to achieve something (anything!) better because the forces mobilised against it are too powerful, so why waste the effort in the first place?
All I wanted and hoped for was a campaign run by dedicated genuine socialists with fire in their belly (Mick Lynch?) who wouldn't run scared of the media and capitulate without a whimper. Not asking much. We got none of that with Corbyn, much as I like the man (I went on several occasions to hear him speak at rallies). And his judgement of who to trust was appalling. Expecting him to be ruthless with the PLP traitors was I suppose futile, just not in his nature.
It will cost the UK taxpayer £132bn to decommission all the UK’s civil nuclear sites and the work will not be completed for another 120 years, according to latest estimates.
