It's a classic "lesser of two evils" dilemma.
About which philosophers have pondered for millennia. Of course, it isn't a simple "binary" choice, because indeed there are other options - retreat to an energy poor economic system and totally impoverish ourselves, improve energy efficiency, allow three quarters of the world's population to die off, install renewables etc. But in regard to supplying adequate energy for our (supposed) needs, it does come down to this dilemma. As Wiki puts it The lesser of two evils principle, also referred to as the lesser evil principle and lesser-evilism, is the principle that when faced with selecting from two immoral options, the least immoral one should be chosen. In which case, nuclear power could be the least immoral.
