Re: MoA: Ukraine - Media Start To Acknowledge Reality
When I was on my travels around 7 years ago I met a Russian-speaking Ukrainian from outside Kharkov who was also a Ukrainian nationalist. This confused me at the time, having read up on the situation and when I asked her about Russian speakers in the Donbass rising up against the persecution of the government, she dismissed them as being as being descended from 'lower-bred' (or words to that effect) people the Russians had populated the area with years ago. She denied there was any discrimination against Russian speakers in the country and claimed it was just "Russian propaganda". Coincidentally, a while later we were in a cafe and a chap overheard her talking and asked where she was from and joined us in conversation. He was Canadian and had visited Kiev. He said he enjoyed his time there but didn't feel welcome when he spoke Russian (he didn't speak Ukrainian). The Kharkov woman was visibly upset hearing this an insisted it couldn't be true. It became uncomfortable and he politely left us. She was shaking after this encounter, annoyed that her previous words to me were so obviously contradicted..I thought it was a very strange reaction. I just looked at her waiting for her to explain what I just witnessed but all she could say was that the man was 'pro-Russian'.
When the levels of extreme nationalism are that deeply engrained in a country, the road to ruin is never far away and the time has come for Ukraine. They're about to learn a painful lesson in US/EU duplicity/backstabbing.
