Fast moving objects can appear deformed due to a camera sensor phenomenon called "rolling shutter". As each row of pixels is read out sequentially, a delay is introduced and as the object moves, a skewing effect of the object is recorded. This can be avoided by reading the pixel rows simultaneously, but stacked sensors are much more expensive, let alone the grail of "global shutter".
