There's clearly a suspicion in Turkey of a greater western agenda and a resentment of outside interference in their society: They see LGBT displays as the thin end of the wedge in introducing "Liberal" notions to Turkey; aiming to undermine not only the traditional structure of their society but reach into its politics.

-This is not an entirely unwarranted suspicion as the funding, promoting and indeed the agenda of LGBT groups is controlled by outside powers: most especially the EU and the US "Global Equality Fund" and as we have seen in the recent past the US repeatedly uses the strategy of funding and using such NGO's to undermine and destroy whatever state it deems requires "regime change" in a "Colour revolution" and consequently its replacement by a US friendly or proxy government.

And sad as it seems, aforesaid "Pussy Riot" are indeed funded as part of the US State Department's NGO drive to likewise undermine the Russian state.
