There is certain truth in what you say. Latinic alphabet has been adopted in Slavic nations like Poland, Chezs, Slovakia and Ukraine. The cyrillic slavic nations are Russia, Bulgaria and Serbia and (I think) MonteNegro. In essence it is the split between Eastern and Western Roman Empire. There has always been strife between these two entities, with some modifications, for 1000s of years and it still persists.
