Don't forget Manchester Arena
I wrote to Jonathan in praise of his latest post and added that, while it was outside the remit of the piece, we shouldn't forget the part played by the UK government and MI5 in particular in facilitating the group of expatriate Libyans living in Manchester, one of whom was responsible for the bombing of Manchester Arena and the deaths of 22 young people and injuries to hundreds more. This group had been aided by the security services in travelling to and fro to Libya as part of an effort to oust Gaddafi. Theresa May was Home Secretary (and thus in charge of MI5) during this period. As with the media's silence over the West's part in the destruction of Libya and responsibility for the current situation, the events leading up to the Manchester Arena atrocity are never discussed.
