I think one's first reaction to something happening somewhere or some new war we're involved in... should be humility and an attitude that I don't really know anything about this, time to do some research.

Secondly, whatever appears in our media, if we in the West are even slightly involved, is bound to be or is massively biased and probably the diametric opposite of the truth! I mean we've got a record of lying about our wars going back decades. Over and over and over again. Why should anything be different this time around? Our media is the same, the journalists are really the same, the politicians are reading from the same tired, lying, script.

One's stance should be, extreme caution and extreme scepticism, until there is some kind of honest and independent verification.
