Rice is a staple of any diet in Asia and my household is no different - we currently have 50KG of Thia Rice in the flat, which I enjoy with an Indian Curry.
Further, the wife in her youth on Luzon actually worked in the paddy fields and where I reside we had a few paddy fields when I arrived in 96, now gone and replaced with housing!
I've been taken out a few times in Beijing to dine at a local eatery, suffice to say all I could actually stomach to eat was plain rice, chili and some soy sauce. Beef lungs are not to my taste, but the Chinese waste nothing when it comes to animals.
