But here's my problem. As an avowed supporter of the Palestinians and outspoken opponent of Israel and its apartheid policies, wouldn't you think that Waters would be ultra-careful and cautious about saying anything that his enemies could seize upon to label him a Jew-hater? I mean, even making feeble jokes about Jews and doing impressions of elderly Jewish-Polish women (to a man some of whose family had died in the death camps) seems to me a very crass and insensitive thing to do. And knowing he's in the firing line from Zionist groups and the Israeli government, it seems as if he's positively inviting that condemnation. I mean, why go out of your way to make yourself an open target to such accusations? Why not let your artistic endeavours and public statements speak for you instead of making feeble jokes?
Unless, that is, none of these stories are true, in which case Waters should flatly deny them, which he hasn't.
