They don't seem to have noticed - or are in denial about - that the geopolitical tectonic plates - economical and political - have shifted eastwards.
America's standing - and thus Britain's - is not what it was. A lot of the rest of the world see it as politically and morally bankrupt.
Britain should be facing east not west. That is one reason why Brexit was a mistake.
In the short and medium term, due to the Ukraine war, Germany - and thus Europe - has been cut off from Asia. Which is one of the main aims of the US/NATO proxy war against Russia. It's in the interests of the US to keep the cold war mentality and thus its hold over its European satraps. Europe appears incapable of breaking free.
The future's with Eurasia. But that doesn't mean that the US wouldn't remain a significant power - but just within a multipolar world.
But one big caveat. The fall out from climate change - and attendant collapses - will change everything - over a timescale which is uncertain. The differential effects of these collapses may be significant.
