Agreed, glad you appreciated it. Another parallel I find striking is the way people fully aware of a certain kind of abuse happening to their people appear fully ready to visit that very same abuse on others. In the Algerian case many of the military figures involved in the counterinsurgency operations were WW2 veterans who had fought as partisans against the nazis, and were now themselves engaged in hunting down & killing partisans on behalf of an occupying power, apparently without any awareness of the irony. And of course everyone in Israel is brought up fully indoctrinated about the holocaust and being victimised due to their ethnicity by vastly superior powers. And that hasn't stopped them visiting similar abuses on the Palestinians, culminating in outright genocide. Shows the talent of people for rationalising away our behaviour, lying to ourselves in order to get to sleep at night... cheers, I
