I love Hedges. But despite him living in Sarajevo at the time of the Bosnian war and Srebrenica, he has a blind spot wrt Serbs. For some reason he does not associate colonial enterprise by Ottoman Turks to conquer Serb lands, lasting 500 odd years, in other words, constant strife of attrition with conquered peoples in the countryside, with what happened at that juncture in time. The Serbs on the highlands around Sarajevo were the Palestinians of their time. And we all know Edward S.
